Dr. Nicole Smee earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2008. She completed a rotating internship at VCA Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynnwood, Washington, before returning to Kansas State University to complete her residency in small animal internal medicine and a master’s degree in 2012.
Following her training, Dr. Smee practiced in Kansas City at Mission MedVet and later relocated to Las Vegas, where she spent 10 years at Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center in a high-volume private specialty practice. She has received extensive additional training in diagnostic ultrasound and has been performing ultrasounds since her internship. Dr. Smee also brings prior consulting experience in both ultrasound and internal medicine.
She is excited to be part of Oncura and is passionate about helping veterinarians across the country provide excellent patient care—particularly in regions with limited access to specialty medicine. Dr. Smee became Medical Director of Oncura in 2025 and looks forward to expanding her impact through teaching and mentorship.
Her master’s research focused on urinary tract infections, making urinary cases a particular area of interest. Outside of work, Dr. Smee enjoys spending time on her farm, where she rescues and cares for special-needs animals.
